PTFE, most widely known by DuPont's trade name of Teflon®, was discovered in 1938 by Roy J. Plunkett while working at DuPont’s laboratories.  Teflon® was found to be heat resistant and chemically inert and to have very low surface friction.  In virgin grade, Teflon® has a temperature range from -450F to +500F.  In electrical applications, Teflon® exhibits excellent electrical stability over a wide range of frequency and environmental conditions.  Teflon® is unaffected by outdoor weathering, it is non-flammable and non-adhesive.

PTFE machining or Teflon® machining has a variety of uses as manifolds, insulators, guides, slide blocks, cathode and anode end blocks, arc shields, beads, seals, washers, valve seats and can be found in many industries.

East Coast Precision Manufacturing has experience working with Teflon
® machining and PTFE machining to machine many types of Teflon® parts and PTFE parts such as:

  • Teflon® bushings

  • Teflon® insulators

  • Teflon® beads

  • Teflon® valve seats

Teflon® machining and PTFE machining require skill and familiarity with the properties of Teflon® and PTFE.   East Coast can produce a burr free, high quality surface finish for sealing areas and a dent free component.  We can mitigate size change over time with the proper annealing and Teflon® machining techniques. While Teflon® is easy to machine due its softness, it requires machining skill and experience to properly machine dimensionally accurate features on your machined Teflon® component.

East Coast Precision Manufacturing combines skill with experience to produce a dimensionally accurate Teflon® machining component.  Contact us for a quote today.  We can produce first piece items for your inspection prior to our production run.
