Do you want your polycarbonate or acrylic plastic part to have a clear or optically clear finish?

Acrylic polishing and polycarbonate polishing are the answers!

East Coast Precision Manufacturing has developed an expertise in vapor polishing of plastic parts, this includes acrylic polishing and polycarbonate polishing.

Vapor polishing is a process by which a chemical is applied to the surface of plastic that changes the plastic's finish to a high gloss.  It is important to be experienced with the process of vapor polishing since it involves skill and understanding of the proper technique to achieve the desired results.  At East Coast Precision Manufacturing, we have 15+ years experience with this delicate process. Acrylic polishing and polycarbonate polishing are two plastics that benefit from a vapor polishing finish.  Vapor polishing is also done on polysulfone, Ultem, and polyethersulfone.

Benefits of a vapor polish finish include:

  • Improves a matte or opaque finish to a high gloss, referred to as optically clear or water clear

  • Specified by the medical community to smooth out tool marks where debris in blood pump applications can collect

  • Improves manifold applications of polycarbonate or acrylic by enabling viewing of the inside of the manifold for liquid presence

  • Also necessary for components that need to pass light unobstructed, such as light emitting diodes in component cavities

  • Cosmetic reasons to give the finished part a glossy professional look.
